Low Carb Deviled Eggs With A Spicy Kick

Low Carb Lovers Spicy Deviled Eggs

Spicy low carb deviled eggs make a perfect grab and go solution for low carb lovers. These eggs are delicious and have a devilish kick to them. They are the perfect grab and go treat for low carb lovers.

Ingredients:

1 Dozen Eggs

4 Strips of Bacon – cooked and chopped

1/2 to 3/4 cups of Mayonnaise

3 Tbs Sweet Relish

1/2 Cup of Horseradish Cheddar

2 Tbs Horseradish Mustard

1 Tbs Franks Hot Sauce (more to taste)

1 1/2 Tbs Sour Cream

Salt & Pepper

Optional: If you can’t find horseradish cheddar or horse radish mustard then simply add 1 to 2 tablespoons of prepared horseradish.

Preparation:

Begin by boiling 1 dozen eggs. Avoid overcooked eggs. Over cooking will lead to a greenish tint and your eggs won’t look as vibrant. Additionally, perfectly cooked eggs will have a creamier consistency. You also want to avoid under cooking your eggs. Under-cooked eggs will not blend properly and have a tendency to clump.

Cook bacon until crisp and crumble.

Tip: For perfectly cooked bacon arrange bacon on a sheet tray with rack. Place in a preheated 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.

For perfectly boiled eggs every time follow these instructions:

Place eggs in pot large pot and cover with cold water. Cook eggs over medium high and bring them to a gentle roiling boil. Immediately remove the pan from the heat once the eggs begin to boil . Leave the eggs in the water and allow them to sit for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes pour off water and fill with cool water to stop the cooking. Peel your eggs while they are still warm.

Tip: Don’t use eggs fresh eggs. Eggs that are at least a week old are easier to peel.

Peel all eggs, slice them in half and remove yolks to a separate bowl. Arrange whites on a serving tray.

Mash the yolks until they are free from lumps. Add the following ingredients to the yolks.

  • half of the mayonnaise
  • relish,
  • mustard,
  • hot sauce,
  • cheddar and
  • sour cream.

Stir the mixture well. Add more mayonnaise until you’ve reached a thick yet creamy consistency. Be careful not to add too much mayonnaise as this will make your mixture runny.

Once you’ve achieved the proper consistency stir in crumbled bacon. If you are preparing these eggs in advance add bacon to top instead of in the mixture to avoid sogginess.

Fill your eggs generously. Use a piping bag or a spoon. When done sprinkle with seasoning. Here I’ve used a spicy mix. Delicious! This low carb deviled eggs recipe will become on of your favorites. They are perfect for parties too.

Low Carb Snacks: Sweet & Spicy Peanuts

While out shopping for my favorite snack, peanuts, I came upon a spicy variety. Those would be good I thought but I’ll bet they have sugar in them. Sure enough listed there in the ingredients was sugar.

These are spicy why does there need to sugar? I put them back. But then I got to thinking. Spicy and sweet would probably be really good. I’ll be I can make these myself.

I grabbed my normal variety, plain ole’ peanuts with salt. I checked out and headed home excited to experiment with the recipe I had in my head.

Low Carb Snacks: Sweet & Spicy Peanuts

This recipe, if you can call it that, is beyond simple. In fact it only calls for three ingredients. I’ll pretend this is a real recipe and list them in recipe format.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Peanuts
  • 1 Tsp Walden Farms Pancake Syrup
  • Sprinkling of McCormick Fiery 5 Pepper to taste

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 400°

Add a little butter or oil to a small skillet or oven safe pan. Spread peanuts into pan. Pour on Walden Farms Pancake Syrup. Stir to coat all nuts. Sprinkle McCormick’s Fiery 5 Pepper liberally. Don’t worry it’s not too hot. If you like it hotter add red pepper or red pepper flakes. Add a bit of salt too if desired. I did even though I bought salted nuts I wanted to really enhance the sweet flavor.

Pop in the oven for 15 –  20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool to room temp.

These nuts will be slightly sweet, a bit spicy, super crunchy and oh so delicious.

  • Total Carbs: 11g
  • Dietary Fiber: 5g
  • Total Net Carbs: 6g

All nutrional values come from the peanuts based on a 1.375oz serving size. The Walden Farms Pancake Syrup has no calories or other nutrional value nor does the Fiery 5 Pepper seasoning. Note this seasoning does list sugar as an ingredient (something I didn’t notice when I bought it). But I’m certain not much and the amount is under your control.

My Experience With The Ultimate Reset

I was actually excited about the Reset as I had never tried a cleanse before. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but just never knew how to go about it. Having had so much success with Beachbody I had great confidence in their product. I ordered the Beachbody Ultimate Reset and was excited to get started.

Preparation:

Taking on this challenge is going to require some changes to your typical routine. For me preparation was key. I read over all the information and watched the accompanying DVD so I knew just what was in store.

I went shopping for all of my first week’s supplies. It will be much easier to complete the Reset if you prepare adequately.

The Supplements:

The supplements are taken according to plan. The program and nutrition guide tells you exactly how to take your supplements and when. Each phase adds in new supplement. The schedule is well defined in the guide.

  • Revitalize: Aids in revitalizing flora in the digestive tract. Flora aids in preventing constipation, helps maintain immunity wards off yeast infection and protects the large intestine.
  • Alkalinize: Maintains alkalinity. This helps to neutralize acids and maintain a healthy pH balance.
  • Detox: Removes toxins and cleanses the colon.
  • Mineralize:Replenishes natural minerals essential to the body.
  • Oxygenize: Nourishes the body with supplemental oxygen.
  • Optimize: Promotes healthy metabolism.

The Results

While the Beachbody Ultimate Reset is not a weight loss program, most people do experience weight loss while reseting. During my 21 Cleanse I lost 15 lbs. Weight loss was an added benefit. The best part of the cleanse for me was completely cleaning my system. I was previously having trouble eliminating to the point of actually becoming worried. The Reset gave me the complete and thorough cleansing I’d been needing for a long time. Doing the Reset also gave me added energy and more focus. Typically it takes me hours to come around in the mornings. During the Reset I became clearer and less groggy much sooner. I was able to remain more alert during the day.

Rest Your Body

The Ultimate Reset is designed to work without exercise. Taking a break from vigorous exercise allows your nervous system to remain in a relaxed state.

I was worried about discontinuing my exercise regime for 21 days. I was afraid it would be hard to start back up again. Or that I would possibly gain weight.

On the contrary even stopping my daily exercise I was able to lose weight. At the end of the Reset I was so energized I couldn’t wait to get back to working out.

You won’t be doing strenuous exercise but this is a great time to engage in stretching or daily walks. Yoga is also an excellent alternative.

Other Things To Consider

The Beachbody Ultimate Reset prescribes plenty of water. In addition to hydrating yourself it’s also important to get proper rest. Think of the Ultimate Reset Cleanse as a 21 day spa retreat. Take this time to pamper yourself.

You’ve probably heard all the hype surrounding Shakeology. I had heard nothing but great things about Shakeology before I decided to try it. Admittedly I was skeptical. I mean it’s just a shake right? Wrong? Read my Shakeology review and decide for yourself.

Not another Shakeology review? Well yes of course. I just wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t give you my honesty opinion of Shakeology. I’m sure you’ve heard about Shakeology and have questions and concerns about whether it is right for you.

Why Was I Skeptical About Trying Shakeology?

Cost

I had two main objectives to purchasing Shakeology. First being the cost. If you are wondering just why Shakeology carries such a hefty price tag I can tell you in a word. It’s the ingredients. It’s all natural and sourced from over 70 nutrient dense ingredients from all over the world. It’s got your daily doses of proteins, vitamins and minerals. It also includes anitoxidants, fiber, probiotics and a whole host of other nutritious ingredients. Honestly I was more than a bit intrigued by the health benefits of Shakeology.

It’s funny how we never think twice about overspending on indulgences that won’t benefit us in a positive way. If you think you can’t afford Shakeology review this comparison chart. While you may not have a coffee every day or a burger surely there is something you know you can improve on. Think about what that could be and then decide what is really important you. I mentioned in my Les Mills Pump post about the ridiculous amount I spent on fast food and dining out. Read below to see the unhealthy vice I gave up to make Shakeology a healthier part of my life.

Carb Count

As a low carber I was pretty concerned about the 17 carbs in Shakeology. At that point in time I was only allowed 25 carbs. After reading over the ingredients I realized taking Shakeology would simply be like replacing some of my veggies for the day. Which is where most of my carbs come from.

The carbs in Shakeology are not the starchy carbs that come from pastas or potatoes. But carbs that come from healthful vegetables. There are also 6 grams of fiber which brings the carb count down to 11.

What did I Think About The Shakes?

The very first time I had the shake I mixed it with almond milk. This is what was recommended to me by coach. To keep carb count low I mixed equal parts water and almond milk. Not my thing. The shake had an odd taste.

I decided to try making my Shakeology, chocolate of course, with coffee. I refrigerate until cold. The coffee just makes it taste much more chocolatey. It’s especially delicious with flavored (not sweetened) coffees. My favorite, Khalua.

Next I ditched the almond milk and opted for heavy cream. I’m a low carber, I can do that. Oh man this is just magical. I freeze it until it’s the consistency of a Frosty and it’s amazing. I highly suggest experimenting with Shakeology recipes. Try different shakes or even food recipes.

One last thing I’ll say about the shakes is that I thought they were super filling. Overly filling for me in fact. I had to cut down on the amount of liquid I used and sometimes split it into two snacks.

Does Shakeology Really Work?

Weight Loss

One of my main objectives during my weight loss journey is achieving a certain number on the scale. Before I started taking Shakeology I was having a difficult time breaking a certain barrier. I can’t recall what weight I was at when I started Shakeology but sure enough after the first week the numbers started to move again.

I use Shakeology as a meal replacement and occasionally as a snack. Yes for me it did help me get the numbers moving downward on the scale again.

Decreased Cravings

Prior to ordering Shakeology I was having protein bars daily. I was pretty well addicted to them. I hated that I had to have them every day but really I just couldn’t stop eating them. It’s artificial sugar that does that.

Sometimes I have control over artificial sweeteners and sometimes it just spirals out of control. I wasn’t convinced the protein bars were the healthiest thing for me but I just needed something sweet to satisfy cravings. Shakeology was an excellent replacement because it satisfied my sweet tooth but doesn’t bring out the craving for sweets often caused by artificial sweeteners.

Did I mention I was paying $3 – $4 a day for these protein bars? That pretty much negates any objections I had to buying Shakeology

Improved Energy

I keep really odd hours and I am not a morning person. It takes me a good while to become alert in the mornings. With Shakeology I noticed I wasn’t as sluggish in the mornings and became alert a bit quicker. I didn’t feel zoom, zoom, zoom as if I had taken something. Just more alert.

Shakeology Review Wrap Up

What I really like about Shakeology is that it makes me feel like I am doing something healthy for my body. Especially having replaced protein with Shakeology.

Shakeology will help fuel your body and help you on your health and fitness journey. Is it a magic shake or cure all? No but a lot goes into Shakeology to make sure it is one of the healthiest things you can put into your body.

As with anything consistency yields results. If you’d like to experience improved mood and energy and feel the benefits of a healthy digestion system you should consider giving Shakeology a try.
