My P90X Results: Bring It! It’s Been Brought

Many women may think P90X is not right for them. Like I once did, they may believe it’s much too difficult. It can be difficult but Tony has lots of modifiers in this program. Even at my weight and lack of muscle tone I was able to get through all of the workouts.

Another reason women may think P90X is not right for them is they think they will bulk up like a man. Not so. I didn’t “bulk up” during P90X but this was the first time I actually saw muscle tone on my body. Case in point, notice the arms in the photo above.

Getting The Most From The P90X Workout

This program as I said was difficult. For me the hardest part was all of the pushups. My upper-body strength is terrible. Or was, it’s improving now. One great thing about this work out is Tony says “Do your best, forget the rest”. That’s just what I did.

There were a lot of varieties of push ups. I could only do two. Standard pushups and girlie pushups. But that’s all I could do so that’s what I did. And that’s ok. Don’t be intimidated. Do what you can you will still see great results

My P90X Results

For me P90X came right after Les Mills Combat. I began taking pictures in my Zagat t-shirt. And because it’s sometimes so difficult to notice our results when you are so large I decided to focus on the fit of shirt.

Back story. When I got this t-shirt I couldn’t fit at all. Not even close. Its been very rewarding to try it on month after month and see the progress I’ve made.

That being said, you can see the progress I’ve made in the photos below. You can’t however REALLY see the progress. That’s what inspired me to take the photo above. I wanted to really be able to see my P90X results. I didn’t however expect to be showcasing them here.

Why You Should Try P90X Even If You Are Afraid

As the saying goes you can’t argue with results. Completing a challenge like this will leave you feeling strong, confident and accomplished. There is a wide variety of workouts in this program so you are not likely to get bored. You will definitely get stronger and fitter. This is a mix between cardio, plying and resistance training. Les Mills Combat: Awesome Results With Combat

Woot, I’ve graduated! My Les Mills Combat results are staggering. This high energy work out is by far one of my all time favorites. I just can’t get enough Les Mills Combat. I was so excited with the Les Mills Pump program and the results I achieved from it. When I heard the Les Mills team was coming out with another DVD work out program I couldn’t wait to try it. Les Mills Combat The Best Gift Ever

Les Mills Combat was released in or around December of 2013 and I ordered it as a gift to myself. I didn’t actually begin the workout until January as I was finishing up another routine. Wow. It’s amazing. Just like Pump, Combat is high energy. In fact it’s even more fast paced than PUMP. Don’t worry, not too fast paced. This is another workout I believe anyone could do.

What I love best about Les Mills Combat is that most all of the moves are standing. And when you do have to go to the floor it’s only for a few minutes at the end. The music selection is excellent, in fact you may find yourself Googling the songs. I know I did. Here is a full list of the Les Mills Combat Soundtrack.

Getting Started With Les Mills Combat

This program isn’t difficult at all to get into. In fact all you need are the gloves which came with the program. It’s a combination of cardio kick boxing and additional DVD’s provide HIIT (high intensity interval training). I followed the work out guide as prescribed. Some days my knees are in worse conditions than others. On those days I swapped the HIIT for something with less impact.

You will need to develop your coordination with this one. But it comes easily within the first couple of weeks. For me some of the kicks were a bit difficult at first. Especially when it came to achieving balance. You’d be surprised how much easier it becomes over time. This is a killer routine which will rip you to shreds. It was astonishing to watch the changes in my upper body.

This is another work out program that will be on my forever list. I take time out to mix it up with other routines but this is one I’ll always come back to. A note to Dan, I love you. Extreme Weight Loss Transformation: Losing 100 lbs or More

My extreme weight loss transformation came after I decided I didn’t want to turn 50 in my morbidly obese body. I wanted to live again. I wanted to be happy again. I wanted to make the most of the rest of my life. Like anyone who needs to lose 100bls or more I told myself time and time again that it would be impossible to lose all that weight. I even envisioned myself in one of those modified caskets. That’s a grisley thought I know but it was my reality.

How does one become so grossly overweight. Most people who’ve never had a weight problem are likely to believe the person has no self control, are lazy or just eat too much. While these facts often become truth they are rarely where the problem starts. For me depression, isolation and complications from an unfortunate car accident just compounded problems with a life long food addiction.

Extreme Weight Loss: How Do You Get Started?

If you have to lose 100 pounds or more you are most likely feeling hopeless. The more you have to lose the more desperate you become. You want more than anything to lose the weight but you have unwavering obstacles standing in your way.

My biggest obstacle was the belief that I couldn’t do it. At 457 pounds I clearly needed to lose at least 275 pounds and preferably 300. That seemed completely impossible. Finally I stopped thinking and started doing. By this time I was so uncomfortable in my body and  in physical and mental pain I knew I had to something. I still believed I couldn’t lose 275 pounds but I told myself if I could at least lose 50 pounds I might be able to walk comfortably again. So I set out to lose just 50 pounds.

Getting started isn’t easy but it is imperative. There’s no getting around that. If you don’t find some reason to get started your situation will only become worse. So to answer the question “How do you get started?” you just do. At this point nothing matters more than taking that first step.

Common Objectives That Prevent Us From Beginning Our Weight Loss Journey

  • An overwhelming belief that the goal is hopelessly out of reach.
  • Not knowing how to get started.
  • Lack of support.
  • Sabotagers who will lead you to believe you can’t or don’t need to do it.
  • A belief that extreme weight loss can’t be achieved without surgery.

Enduring the Weight Loss Journey: How Do You Stay Focused?

Getting started was hard. Staying focused just might be harder. If you are looking to lose 100 pounds it’s safe to say that could take a year. Though you may do it in less plan for at least 1 year. Now add another year for every 100 pounds you need to lose. Wow. Seems daunting doesn’t it? How do you stay on a road that seems never ending? How do you stay motivated when the numbers on the scale are down but the changes in your body aren’t visible? How do you keep pushing when the scale stops moving? Extreme weight loss can be difficult but with the right tools it’s highly possible.

Through out the year many things will change. Family problems will occur. There will be holidays and celebrations. Some days you just won’t feel like dieting or exercising.

Tips to help you stay focused

  • Don’t think of the road ahead: Embrace the challenge on a day by day basis. Focus on your plan each day. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to you lose the weight. The fact is, God willing, you will here at the end of the year and you will either be fitter or fatter.
  • Think of your fitness journey as your job: Some days you are too tired to go to work. Your boss gets on your nerves or the workload seems overwhelming. No matter the challenges you have to go to work or you don’t get paid. Worse yet you get fired. Your commitment to your fitness should be just as important to you as your job. Expect challenges along the way and prepare yourself to deal with them.
  • Weigh in moderation: It’s a good idea to weigh in once a month. Hopping on the scale every day can make you obsessive and distraught and could lead to self sabatoge. Weighing in once a month is an excellent motivator because you are apt to see the best results.
  • Realize your victories: When I first started I’d lose 5 to 7 pounds a month. That’s not much when you are 457 pounds. But for me it was a huge victory because finally the scale had stopped going up. Don’t beat yourself up for “only” losing 5 pounds. Congratulate yourself for doing so.

How Do You Lose 100 Pounds or More?

A journey to extreme weight loss takes focus and dedication. I’m proof that it is indeed possible. And surprisingly so at most points it’s not even difficult. Your key to finding extreme weight loss success is putting together a plan that works best for you. If you are serious about losing 100 pounds you can’t keep jumping on “the next best thing”. You need a structured plan that you will be able to follow. I once heard a woman say she planned to lose 200 lbs on a water fast. If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Be prepared to work for what you want. Remember it is your job.

Where To Find Support For Extreme Weight Loss

It’s easier to reach your goals when you have a strong support system. Having someone in your corner will keep you focused and motivated when you feel like giving up. This is essential especially when it comes extreme weight loss as it may be a particularly long journey. Watching someone succeed is inspiring. Having someone to share your struggles with may mean the difference in going on or giving up.

The problem with having to lose 100 pounds or more is that even if you find a weight loss buddy more than likely they will be done way before you. Even if your goals similar that person may give up or perhaps their ambition doesn’t match yours.

Black Women Losing Weight

Black Women Losing Weight was the first time I made a fully committed attempt to share my story so publicly. Of course I speak openly about losing weight on my Youtube channel. However, I hadn’t actually told anyone I knew about my channel. Knowing I would soon have to share my experiences with the Team Beachbody community I figured I’d better toughen my skin.

Sharing My Story With Black Women Losing Weight

Opening up so publicly about an issue so difficult to talk about  is scary to say the least. Black Women Losing Weight is an online community of just that. Black women and their attempts at losing weight. They have a very strong community on their website and on Facebook as well. It’s a huge network full of inspirational weight loss stories from black women. Because I felt more at home here it was easier to share my story here.

The Cat Is Out Of The Bag

I knew it was unlikely I would see anyone I knew on Black Women Losing Weight. Because they share their stories on Facebook I figured their was a very good chance people I knew would finally know the truth. This was the scariest part of all. I told myself it is more important to share my story and help inspire others than to worry about what naysayers would have to say.

Once released my story spread like wild fire, generating some 6,000 likes. That was staggering to me. So was the overwhelming support. There is a saying “Don’t be afraid to share your story, you never know who you may inspire” I found out that day just how true that was. As expected this story made it to my wall. All of my friends finally found the truth. And to my surprise some of them were also struggling with weight issues of their own. Again the support was overwhelming.

Of course there were a few negative Nellies but very few. And I told myself If someone can find fault in someone doing good then that person will find fault in anything.

 The Black Women Losing Weight Movement

For far too long the black community has taken a blase approach to health and fitness. Somehow it became acceptable and almost preferred for black women to be overweight. Words like “thick”, “phat” and even “healthy” were commonly used to describe overweight black women. I am proud to be a part of Black Women Losing Weight. I am glad to see the African American community embracing a healthier lifestyle and refusing to accept fat as a normal way of life.

I want to inspire and help black women who want to change their lives and reach for better health and fitness. Years of fat acceptance can make it very difficult to even know what a healthy body image is. Growing up I was what was known as “big boned”. Somehow I always believed that was true. I honestly thought that I was a natural plus size and always would be. Because I was told that by pretty much everyone I knew.

I knew I could lose weight but I never knew I could actually have a healthy and fit body. I take this opportunity to tell anyone reading this, you can too.
